Supporting Welsh Tourism Growth

This story is a little different from the usual things you read here but I make no apology for including it. On this bank holiday weekend, there will be lots of people working in some aspect of tourism in Wales who will have ideas on how to improve things; to make that day-out, that stay, that attraction better or more appealing for us the visitor. And those ideas should be supported.
The Tourism Society in Wales offers a £5,000 award to someone,-anyone- to help develop a project that will improve, help or build tourism in the principality. You can be in business, in academic life or just that person with a great idea.

Praising Farmers & Damning Officials

Unless you have been hiding for the last week or so you’ll have noticed the odd bit of snow on the ground. Virtually all over the country it has caused disruption to travel and everyday life. But a sort of community spirit has existed where neighbour has helped neighbour and complete strangers have helped unblock roads.
The tourism industry has been hit too. Country hotels have had their normally attractive drives become barriers to the arrival of guests. Attractions and heritage sites have suffered the same.

Jamaican Twist at Notting Hill Carnival

London’s Notting Hill Carnival has its roots firmly in the culture of the West Indian island of Trinidad, but since 2003, Jamaican Twist – the only Jamaican float to take part – has been an integral part, winning no less than six awards in the last three years.
