As we celebrate France on their national holiday we begin a week of stories on France starting with a brief introduction to each of the 22 French mainland regions and Corsica.
Today is the start of British Tourism Week. There are hundreds of events over the coming week, most starting on Monday but today is the big launch day with the follow up top last year’s very successful lighted beacons which stretched the length of Hadrian’s Wall. This year it is the party on the pier and it all begins in Weston-super-Mare.
That was one of the comments from the chairman of the National Showcaves Centre which won Best Attraction at the Swansea Bay Tourism Awards Last Week. He made the comment in an interview to the South Wales Evening Post.
What did he mean?
That, like detergent, the more people see adverts and stories about a destination or attraction the more chance of people going there.
