This is the last weekend when you can visit the Museum of Transport in Glasgow. It closes at he end of tomorrow after 46 years sitting on the site of the old Coplawhill tramworks which closed in 1962. Now begins the task of transferring the exhibits to the new Riverside Museum which opens next Spring. All through this weekend there are plenty of activities and even trips on some of the classic buses of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust.
Tomorrow, the final day, has been given a carnival atmosphere when there will music, dance and comedy alongside the exhibits. The events kick off at 11am on Sunday and runs till 4.30pm.
Today’s the day.
It’s the grand opening of Universal’s new theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. At Orlando in Florida, Universal have put a lot of time, effort and money (Universal won’t say how much but figures of close to $200 million have been bandied around) into creating a spectacular attraction that they are hoping will dazzle visitors from around the world.
Will it?
Last month they held a sneak preview from buyers around the world and the general view amongst world weary travel executives and journalists was that it would.
Given that newspapers seem to think they can print stories in the summer that they wouldn’t carry at other times, the last week or so has seen a flurry of tales that are so newsworthy, they will surprise you. No less than 3 surveys have come out all saying that price is the most important thing in choosing a holiday. Who would have thought it!
How many times have we been told that? And it is a complete surprise to you all isn’t it? And to think I believed it was the colour of the brochure or the fact that some 1970’s long forgotten soap star was plugging it. The research is so helpful that I’ll not even name those firms that commissioned it.
But does that tell the whole truth?
