Giving Travellers More Consumer Rights

You will know that the EU legislated some time ago so that you have redress against delays and cancellations when you fly. Those of you booking package holidays (where the flight and accommodation parts are sold as a package) have long been protected by the ATOL bonding scheme.
Now the EU has legislated to improve those who us who take cruises, travel on ferries or spend time on inland waterways. Attempts were made to expand the legislation to cover other transport forms that travellers use such as bus and coach but this hasn’t happened so they will still be less well protected than the rest of us.
Don’t get too excited though. It may take up to 2 years for the legislation to become law.
