Israel it seems, is having a moment. Despite the current economic climate, Israel’s tourism industry has remained remarkably resilient. The Israeli Tourism Board revealed earlier this week at World Travel Market (London) that the number of visitors to Israel is up 27 percent from 2009.
Israel has also won a slew of prestigious travel awards this year: Trip Advisor ranked Jerusalem as one of the top 10 culture and sightseeing destinations in the world – ahead of London, Venice, and Istanbul – while National Geographic has ranked Tel Aviv as among one of the top 10 beach cities. The accolades don’t stop there… Forbes magazine and Lonely Planet have named Tel Aviv Jaffa as one of the world’s top party cities while the Louis Vuitton Travel Guide has included Tel Aviv in the 2010 European Cities Guide.
