Egyptian Pyramids top to-see list

Submitted by Editor on October 10, 2011 – 9:55 pmNo Comment

Egypt may have hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons this year (the clashes in Cairo earlier this week killed 25 people and injured more than 300), but the Egyptian Pyramids remain the sight most people want to see before they die.

A survey of almost 1500 adults by online independent travel agent Sunshine.co.uk, revealed that 89 percent professed to want to see the Pyramids, followed by the Northern Lights and the Taj Mahal. The Niagara Falls, Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef and Venetian Canals claimed spots four to nine while rather bizarrely, Big Ben, came tenth!

I get that the Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef et al are inspirational trips but Big Ben, while a landmark, is surely do-able for most Brits, being easily reached by car or train?! We Brits are known around the world for our eccentricity and, as the results of this survey show, for good reason!
