For many Americans this is the season for many state fairs. Like our county shows, they began originally as agricultural shows and then developed to include fun fairs, stalls and other entertainment. Hot on the heels of the Easter weekend offerings comes another bank holiday weekend full of events. One linked set stands out. Readers will know that ten museums are competing against each other for the £100,000 Art Fund Prize. This coming weekend, is an event called Love Your museum where all ten will throw open their doors with the deliberate intention of persuading you to vote for them. Some TV ads we found appealing though we can’t remember the name of the product. Some are downright irritating that make us want to reach for the remote control faster than a Sky Sports News presenter can get into trouble and some are still irritating but we remember and buy the product. The worst ads are those that we don’t notice. All of us have ads that we secretly – and not so secretly –like. Liking an ad has nothing to do with it being the best. Surely the best has to be those that sell the most. Nonetheless, a poll has been conducted amongst travel marketing professionals to see which ad is the most popular.
A few days in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (KL) convinced us that all one hears is true.
