Marine Parade, Lyme Regis, Dorset – Collaborative Curiosity

Submitted by admin on May 3, 2012 – 11:45 amNo Comment

The aim of the experiment is to develop new ways for people to better understand and appreciate The Jurassic Coast by fusing the local geology and palaeontology with some of the latest available digital technology.Collaborative Curiosity will be based in the marquee at Discovering Earth on the main beach where we will have scientists and volunteers from the Buckland Club, and associated museums and universities, who can give help and advice on how to download our specially created mobile apps for free. The experiment starts when you leave the marquee and head off to see what you can discover and learn on the beach using our first step into the world of augmented reality, digitised geological maps using a hand held phone. Then you tell us how we can make it better. Be involved with creating an online educational database that will become a lasting scientific tool. Look out for The Fossil Festivals Discovering Earth 2012 website to learn more and find out how you can become a digital scientist.Open 10:00 – 17:00VenueFossil FestivalThe Grand MarqueeMain BeachLyme Regiswww.fossilfestival.com
